Siwa is the cultural capital of the Egyptian Sahara oases, the immense expanse of sand dunes called the Great Sand Sea.

Famous throughout the ancient world for the importance of its oracle to which the famous Greek poet Pindar dedicated an ode, it was visited by Alexander the Great who was here declared son of God and therefore confirmed legitimate descendant of the pharaohs.

Remains of ancient monuments, four salt lakes, over two hundred springs, thousands of palm and olive trees make Siwa a unique place in the world.
